Ben Dean - String Theory

Atmosphere Productions very own Ceremony & Strolling Violinist Ben Dean has recently release a new solo CD of Modern Classical tracks called “String Theory”.

Working With The DJ

We’ve noted lately that some of the wedding services are becoming blurred or are beginning to overlap to the dismay of some vendors. In addition the working environment at weddings, on occasion, has become adversarial between service providers.

We’ve witnessed examples of photographers and videographers elbowing for prime shooting space. We’ve seen DJ’s providing free photography or instant projected imagery including video and photo booths at the reception. We’ve seen photographers off the street shooting at a wedding on spec interfering with the hired pro. And then there was the priest who tried to direct the formal shooting session. Or the pushy photographer stepping on the gown and pushing past the priest for that “special moment”. A recent videographer told us about the time he was confronted by the DJ who exclaimed that it was his turn to “shine”.

How Do You Hide An Ugly Divider Wall?

Do you have an ugly wall in your reception hall?  Those huge air walls that separate one side of a ballroom from another are not attractive.  Check out the photo below – with our theatrical lighting and some custom patterns, we can turn that eye sore into a work of art.  This is the Riverview in Simsbury, CT.

A Photobooth Wedding Reception

Photo Booths have become an exciting addition to recent wedding receptions in the New England area.  The modern concept of photo booth with a curtain, screen or other material covering the background and entrance originated in 1925 but became wildly popular in the 50's & 60's.  Today the vast majority of photo booths are digital and in color, although black & white is still offered.

Custom Lighting Designs At Your Wedding

Create a unique and unforgettable moment as you take the dance floor for your first dance.  Custom up-lighting also available to transform your entire wedding venue.

So, you might be questioning why one DJ company charges only $500 for event lighting and another DJ or Lighting Designer is charging $1000-$2500.  First off - it's not the same thing.

Many of these low-end lighting DJs are using low output LED fixtures that can not be seen unless the room is completely black.  You will notice in the photo above that you can see vivid color from the lights AND you can see guest faces all illuminated.

There is a difference between a single color static uplight (stays the same color throughout the night) and wirelessly controlled DMX lighting that can be changed based on the scene that you want to set (Red for dinner, Teal for introductions, and even SOUND ACTIVATED to go to the beat of the music for dancing).

When you see lighting at a reception on TV on shows like Platinum Weddings or My Fair Wedding - their lighting budget is somewhere between $5,000 and $20,000.  Yes, that's just for lighting.  At the DJ Network, we have lighting packages that start around $1,000 and offer full venue lighting with wireless control and high output fixtures to truly transform your venue.
